Individual and Couples’ Therapy
Individual Therapy
In therapy, I will support you as you focus on your relationships, get through a challenging time, or make decisions. My style is to listen and try to understand what you are going through. I may offer my perspective or ask challenging questions. I will help you sort out goals or identify next steps. I will support you not only as you work to find solutions to current problems, but also as you pursue your individual path toward healing and growth.
Relationships
- Are you trying to better understand or improve a relationship with your significant other?
- Do you feel like dating is getting frustrating or tiring?
- Do you want to improve your work relationships?
- Are you interested in having closer relationships with friends or family members?
- Do you want to develop more friendships?
Relationships are at the core of human existence and happiness. When things aren’t going right with them, life can feel lonely or frustrating. Everyone encounters challenges with relationships at some time in their lives. Focusing on how to improve your relationships shows that you are committed to them. Through our sessions, you may gain a deeper understanding of interaction patterns. You may learn to develop healthier boundaries and get your needs met more effectively. You may also find that your relationships with others become closer and more enjoyable.
Support Through Challenges, Losses, and Transitions
- Are you coping with the loss of a loved one?
- Are you having a hard time with a change or stress in your life?
- Do you feel like things have gotten to a “stuck point”?
- Is work not going the way you want it to?
When you are coping with a change or loss, you can use some extra support. By telling your story, you give yourself time to reflect on things. You can see things in a different way, feel cared for, and learn more about yourself. People report that they feel lighter from having talked with me about what they’re experiencing, like a burden has been lifted off their shoulders.
Making Difficult Decisions
- Are you trying to make a tough decision?
- Are you interested in gaining clarity about your past or your future?
In therapy, many people find it helpful to talk about a decision they are trying to make. They may feel torn between two options and that they’re going in circles. By talking with me, you may see parts of the situation you had not noticed before. I will support you in learning more about the parts of you that are in conflict so you can make decisions more freely.
Couples’ Therapy
Do you and your partner seem to have more negative interactions than positive ones? Do you feel like you’re just “going through the motions” or “missing each other”? Do you wish your relationship was more intimate? Do you see certain issues very differently? Some of the issues couples may choose to discuss are:
- Communication
- Intimacy
- Money and financial planning
- Future goals and decisions
- Stress
- Parenting
I see couples who care about each other and want to make things work, but who are trapped in difficult patterns or dealing with challenging issues. Therapy can help you work out an issue at hand, but it can do more than that. It can get you back on track to readily express your love and care for each other. In therapy, I may share practical strategies for positive communication and healthy ways to work through conflicts in the future.
